As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) cooperating association, Friends of Sutter's Fort is proud to support Sutter's Fort State Historic Park. We collaborate with California State Parks to preserve and protect historic structures and artifacts at Sutter's Fort State Historic Park (SHP), and to engage visitors of all ages through high quality educational programs.

Your gifts will help hundreds of students from the greater Sacramento region visit Sutter's Fort in 2022-23. For many students, this is the first field trip they will experience!

Sutter's Fort is a premier destination for educational experiences in California, serving over 50,000 students annually. Students are returning to Sutter's Fort SHP for in-person field trips and we are working to help teachers overcome financial barriers so students can experience programs at the park.

Your gifts support engaging community events

For decades Friends of Sutter's Fort has hosted and/or sponsored demonstration days, holiday events, youth programs and educational experiences. We are currently working with California State Parks to create new events and programs and your donations will help bring these programs and events to life!

Your Gifts support ongoing Preservation and Restoration efforts.

With the help of donors, we have provided critical funding for several major preservation projects including the painting of the exterior walls, the restoration of the blacksmith shop, and the painting of the interior walls. Most recently we funded preservation of Dolly, the small wooden doll carried by Patty Reed.

The work of preserving structures and artifacts that are over 100 years old is an ongoing, daily task. Friends of Sutter's Fort is committed to helping fund these projects so that Sutter's Fort SHP can be a site for learning for future generations to come.
